We recognize the incredible commitment patients make when they enroll in our trials and our goal is to match that commitment and support them in any way possible. By using a creative patient-focused approach to testing via 20/20 Onsite’s mobile vision testing program, we ‘take the test to the patient’ to support their needs during this extremely difficult time. Sue Washer, CEO, AGTC
While working with 20/20 Onsite for previous and current studies, we have been able to provide ophthalmological services that were previously not feasible for our clinical units. Doing so has been very successful in providing safety and ophthalmological oversight of study participants – as required by good clinical practices and the sponsor protocol. Dr. David Wyatt, Vice-President and Global Medical Lead, Syneos Health
It has been a pleasure to work with 20/20 Onsite. Your professionalism, attention to detail, and willingness to pivot or adjust to our sometimes fluid clinical trial protocol schedules has been such a blessing. We have certainly appreciated the opportunity to work with you; and anticipate future endeavors. Jerry Punch, MD. Co-Primary Investigator, Alliance for Multispecialty Research (AMR)

Comprehensive Ophthalmic Assessments

Our mobile vision clinics are equipped to provide a full suite of standardized, certified assessments that ensure data integrity, compliance, quality ocular endpoint protection, and patient comfort. Here are a few of the evaluations we routinely perform for clinical trials.

Assessments

Description

Equipment

Dilated Fundus Exam

Special eye drops dilate a person's pupils, making them more prominent so that light can be shined into the eyes to evaluate internal structures like the retina, macula, and optic nerve.

Binocular indirect ophthalmoscope and slit lamp, and 20D lens. Sometimes, a 90D/78D lens is needed for an additional look

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT)

A special machine sends light into the eye to capture a scan of the retinal layers. These scans allow an eye doctor to identify specific retinal layers affected by various diseases.

Optical coherence tomography machine

BCVA

Best-corrected visual acuity (BCVA) measures the best possible vision in each eye using a prescription.

Visual Chart (Snellen, ETDRS) and Phoropter system or Trial Lenses

Slit Lamp Biomicroscopy

The eye doctor uses a special microscope to magnify and examine the front and internal structures of the eye, assessing eye health and detecting any diseases.

Slit lamp and 90D lens or 78D lens

Intraocular Pressure

Intraocular pressure measures the fluid pressure inside the eye. Maintaining this pressure within a healthy range is essential to prevent ocular conditions like glaucoma.

NCT OR Goldmann applanation tonometry on a slit lamp OR iCare tonometer

Fundus Photography

A special machine takes photos of the inside of the eye to assess structures like the retina, optic nerve, and macula. This photography can be used to monitor changes in the eyes over time.

AFC 330, Zeiss Clarus, Optos (many options)

Visual Field

A visual field test assesses a person's peripheral and central vision to detect vision loss or blind spots.

Humphrey Field or Virtual Visual Field

Color Vision

A color vision test measures a person's ability to see colors, specifically detecting deficiencies in distinguishing the most common colors, yellow/blue, and red/green.

Ishihara test

Ocular Motility

Ocular motility testing evaluates the function of eye muscles and the ability to move the eyes in various directions. It is beneficial for diagnosing binocular vision issues.

Usually done with a transilluminator or pen light

Pupil Testing

Pupil testing involves directing lights at a subject’s pupils to assess for normal reactions in each eye and between the eyes.

Usually done with a transilluminator or pen light
